Presenting Companies Announced for 2008 Mid-Atlantic Bio Conference

Twenty-six Companies from across the Mid-Atlantic Region Represent Biotech, Biopharmaceutical Drug Development and Discovery, Devices and Vaccine Sectors

Chantilly, Va. — Ten later-stage growth companies and 16 emerging companies will present before an audience of venture capitalists and industry professionals at 2008 Mid-Atlantic Bio on October 23 and 24 at the Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles in Chantilly, Va. Dedicated to promoting the biotechnology industry in the Mid-Atlantic region, the conference is hosted collectively by the region’s most influential bioscience and investor associations, the Mid-Atlantic Venture Association (MAVA), the Tech Council of Maryland/MdBio (MdBio) and the Virginia Biotechnology Association (VaBIO).

Each year at Mid-Atlantic Bio, a limited number of life science companies are invited to present before an audience of capital sources, including venture capitalists, angel investors, and various other qualified financing sources, along with life sciences industry attendees. This year three distinct tracks will be featured: Showcase (later-stage growth companies), Growth Watch (emerging companies), and International (visiting delegations from foreign-based companies).

“With the various tracks this year, we continue our efforts to build a broad platform that encourages investor interest, innovation review and industry collaboration,” stated Julia Spicer, Executive Director of MAVA and Host Committee member. “The more mature showcase and interesting emerging technology companies are outstanding representatives of a growing, vibrant community of companies doing business in the Mid-Atlantic region,” she added.
